House Bill 24-1292, otherwise known as the “Assault Weapons Ban” passed the House Judiciary Committee on a vote of 7-3 early this morning, March 20th at 12:18 am. It will now go to the floor of the House for debate among the entire chamber.

The battle against this horrible bill is far from over.

If signed into law, this bill will ban all of the most common firearms used for self-defense, home defense, marksmanship, and hunting. Those firearms include not only AR-15’s and similarly common rifles, but also many popular handguns and shotguns. This would be the largest gun-grab in Colorado history.

The Colorado State Shooting Association (the official state association of the NRA) will not stand idly by while corrupt politicians attempt to trample our right to keep and bear arms.

We will continue the fight to defeat this bill at every stage of its movement through the legislature. If it becomes law, we will explore every legal avenue to overturn it.

We need your support. We have an all-volunteer board of directors and every penny we raise goes to the fight.

If you believe as we do that this bill is one of the worst examples of government overreach in American history, support us in our fight against it by becoming a member of CSSA for $5 per month, $50 per year, or $140 for three years. You can also donate to our legislative action, legal, or general funds.
