The “Assault Weapons Ban” (HB24-1292) officially passed the House of Representatives today (4/15) at 4:13 PM on a vote of 35-27. It will now go to the Senate.

This gun grab of historic proportions is not merely a ban on AR-15s, as the proponents would have you believe. That would be bad enough. But this bill, sponsored by self-described communists Reps. Tim Hernandez and Elisabeth Epps, will ban nearly 80% of firearms in common use. The list of weapons to be prohibited includes shotguns, handguns, and 10 of the 11 most popular firearms used by women for self-defense.

This is an outright betrayal of the United States Constitution and the American way of life. The anti-gunners have put their utter contempt for law-abiding Coloradans on full display and we will not tolerate it.

The Colorado State Shooting Association (the official state association of the NRA) will continue our fight against this bill, now in the Senate, until it is dead. If it is signed into law, we will explore every legal option to overturn it.

We need your support. We have an all-volunteer board of directors and every penny we raise goes to the fight.
