On February 23, 2022, the Arizona State House passed legislation to sanction businesses that refuse doing business with firearms companies by excluding them from state contracts.

This bill, House Bill 2473, was passed with strong Republican support, but with no Democrats on board. The banking industry strongly opposed HB 2473, whereas gun groups and the firearms industry supported the bill.

State Representative Frank Carroll would mandate companies signing on to contracts worth over $100,000 with state or local governments to confirm they won’t boycott firearms companies.
