The South Carolina House is moving forward with a bill that will expand gun rights. By a vote of 82 to 33, the House voted to give an amended version of the Open Carry and Training Act a second reading yesterday afternoon. The legislation would allow anyone with a concealed weapon permit to carry a handgun openly. A provision to allow businesses to post signs prohibiting ‘open carry’ in their establishment was added to the bill by lawmakers and supporters say this bill helps protect the Second Amendment. Tuesday evening, the House Judiciary Committee advanced the Constitutional Carry Act of 2021 to the floor and members are expected to debate it in early April.
